Statistics refers to the particular area of mathematical science that employs the use of numerical data as it relates to groups of individuals or experiments. Through the collection, analysis, and interpretation of that data, mathematical theories are then used to establish order and regularity on the aggregation of those elements. An important function of statistics is that it provides for a set of tools that can be used in prediction and forecasting using and analyzing data. That is why various other disciplines, sciences, and even establishments apply this particular science. Some examples of such that use statistics for the purpose of forecasting and predicting are Biology and Sociology for disciplines and sciences, and government institutions and business for establishments. Statistics encompasses various methods in its process of collecting and analyzing data.
